To protect the athletes, coaches, officials, spectators and facility staff who are participating and attending GooWee 2020 the following plan of action is being implemented to facilitate athlete flow in and out of West Gwinnett Park Aquatic Center.

 

Facility:

 

  • Participants experiencing any of the following are advised not to attend meet:

 

  1. Temperature of 100.4F or greater in the last 24 hours, without the aid of medication

  2. Flu-like symptoms in the last 2 weeks including the following: persistent cough, Respiratory distress, chills, body aches, sore throat and/or headache.

  3. Loss of taste and/or smell in the last 2 weeks

  4. Diagnosis of COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks

 

  • All staff, coaches, officials, volunteers and meet participants will have their temperature checked upon entering the facility.

 

  • All staff, coaches, officials, volunteers and meet participants are required to wear face masks while in the facility. Coaches, officials, and volunteers will maintain distance and wear face coverings when appropriate and safe to do so in line with CDC guidelines.

 

  • There will be controlled entry access to the facility through one entrance. Exiting will occur in intervals at the end of each race and warm down are completed. We will allow participants to exit back to the pre-marked exit as indicated on the Athlete Staging & Flow Chart below.

 

  • Locker rooms and showers will be available, but participants are encouraged to shower and change at home.

 

  • Lockers will not be available.

 

  • Restrooms will be open.

 

  • Participants should notify West Gwinnett Aquatic Center if they receive a diagnosis of COVID-19

 

  • Participants are encouraged to pre-register online, there will be no deck entry to limit interactions and exposure risks.

 

  • Hand sanitizer and cleaning agents will be located throughout the facility where appropriate.

 

  • Parents of participants are encouraged to drop off and then return to vehicles to await dismissal of athletes or to stage in the designated picnic area if you have young athletes. Please follow the instructions of the facility staff and the Safety Director.

 

Meet:

 

  • Participants must maintain minimum of 6 feet distance while participating in meet.

 

  • Participants will enter and exit the pool maintaining 6 feet distance.

 

  • The deck will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants in order to maintain necessary distancing.

 

  • Races with distances of 200, 100 and 50 yards will begin at the starting block side of the pool. All 25 yard races will begin at the shallow end of the pool and race to the block side of the pool.

 

  • Participants will space themselves based on direction from the safety volunteer as outlined in the Athlete Staging and Flow Chart.

 

  • Masks are prohibited while in the water as per CDC guidelines.

 

  • If a participant becomes ill on the premises, they will be isolated from the meet and asked to seek medical attention and testing for COVID-19. Facility staff will be notified and help facilitate exit.

 

  • A participant who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 will be required to show negative test results before they can enter the meet.
